Speculative Immersive Installation

Ocean Dining

Ocean Dining is a speculative interactive art installation designed to confront the devastating impact of plastic waste on marine life.

Each year, plastic waste claims the lives of approximately 100,000 marine creatures, with plastic being consumed or entangled by 81 of 123 marine mammal species (WWF Australia 2021). This immersive experience compels the audience to witness and feel the dire consequences of their plastic consumption firsthand as they are served seafood dishes crafted entirely from plastic.. Created for the McAuley Gallery at Adderton House, the installation utilises biophilic patterns to connect visitors with nature, while the circular design process ensures that the temporary installation aligns with sustainable principles. Ocean Dining is a powerful, emotionally resonant piece that forces viewers to reckon with their environmental impact in a visceral way, embodying my commitment to sustainability through both message and method.

This project’s process involved a site study and planning to scale. She also curated a cuisine out of plastic to have a better understanding of how it would look like. She curated a sea urchin, prawn decorated with green vegetables. This showcases Aisyah’s interior design skill set.
